A recent study in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal (Feb 2013), confirmed my observations with over 500 of my tummy tucks performed in my clinic in Naples, Florida. Patients, especially the heavier ones with BMI's above 24.5, continue weight loss for the first year after an Abdominoplasty. They lose approximately 4.5% of their body weight AFTER their procedure! I find that by tightening their upper abdominal musculature it increases the intra abdominal preassure and causes early satiety. In other words, you have to eat smaller, more frequent meals because you fill up quickly. This is much healthier than 2-3 huge meals. These finding were also confirmed by the study.
