Sorry I have not been blogging lately. I have been gone for two weeks (one still to go). On a mission in Mbale, Uganda performing cleft lip and palate surgeries on babies born with these deformities. Although I really enjoy performing the best cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body in the Naples, Bonita Springs, and Ft. Myers area…sometimes my heart longs to help those who cannot otherwise get help. It is "the other" type of surgery I perform. This is my eighth mission helping children in various under-developed or third world countries. This mission is through an organization called CURE that runs many children's hospitals in these countries. They are partners with Operation Smile/ Smile Train which you may have heard of. Thy run an excellent hospital that focuses on neurosurgical problems in children, especially post infectious hydrocephalus. Dr. John as he is affectionately called performs an incredible number of internal shunting operation using a flexible endoscope!. Truly cutting edge surgery in a top notch hospital. Several times a yer they host a plastic surgeon to perform cleft lip and palate surgery during a two week period. I even got an opportunity to repair the lip of a 23 year old man! Can you imagine growing up like this I am honoured and humbled to be able to come here and do this. I feel fortunate? for what God has given me as far as health, talent and a wonderful family. I can never expect to repay all he has chosen to give. See you back in Naples area soon
