What is a Mini-Facelift or S-Lift and What is the Difference When Compared to a Full Facelift?
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Peña performs a wide range of facelifts including a traditional (full) facelift, and a mini-facelift for select patients. The type of facelift best for you is dependent on your genetics, your age, and your specific visible signs of aging.
Mini-Facelift or S-Lift
This procedure also called MACS lift primarily targets the jowls and secondarily improves the appearance of the neck. Often it can be a “rescue operation” performed 7 to 10 years after a more extensive face and neck lift! The S-Lift is indicated for younger individuals (40-50 years old) who are not ready for a full facelift. When combined with fat grafts, patients achieve more long lasting and optimal facial rejuvenating results. Compared to the full facelift, the S-Lift has very fast healing and reduced downtime and recovery (about one week).
Full Facelift
A full facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic procedure that addresses wrinkles along with sagging or loose skin and excess deposits of fat in the face and neck. Some of the facelift techniques utilized by Dr. Peña also address a double chin or sunken cheeks. The facelift surgery requires subtle incisions behind the hairline and in natural folds surrounding the face. Excess fat and skin are removed, and facial muscles are tightened in a procedure that typically takes several hours to complete.* During recovery, you will stay in close contact with Dr. Peña and his caring team of professionals, visiting the office for follow-up appointments and suture removal when Dr. Peña determines you are ready.
