The face of cosmetic surgery continues to change faster than anyone can really comprehend. The addition of Stem Cells, Platelet Rich Plasma, autologous fat transfers, and non invasive fat reduction as well as non invasive skin tightening and injectable (BOTOX® and fillers) has opened avenues that will forever change the field. A lot of the details of this technology are yet to be worked out, but do not be misled into believing these technologies will fall by the wayside. Too much is known already about what can be done without the knife (or suction cannula) to stop this wave. In that same breath, I warn of the gimmick facelifts that promise great results with a few days of down time and minimal costs. Several recent studies on facelifting (and testimonies of many of my patients that have had these quicky rejuvenations) confirm that more extensive procedures give longer lasting results. About 1 to 2 years is all that most patients get out these advertised Lifts. Most individuals are happy with a more traditional facialplasty for 7 to 10 years. Do the math… it's worth the extra time and cost in the long run!
