Healthy Weight Management and Body Contouring
A recently published 15-year study has found that people who undergo cosmetic body contouring following weight loss surgery are better able to maintain a healthy body mass index (BMI) over the long-run. This study included hundreds of participants of varying race, sex, and age who had undergone laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding.
Over a 15 year period, study participants who had followed weight loss with cosmeticbody contouring maintained an average BMI of 24.6. Those who did not undergo additional cosmetic procedures averaged a BMI of 31. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a BMI of 24.6 is within a healthy range. A BMI of 31 is considered obese.
